The End Of The Road.... Kind Of

The drive was a great success. For all you there, you know that it was crowded. That may not be as fortunate if you are trying to drop something off, but for us it just meant that our drive was a success.
But the year is coming to a close, and while we have not yet saved the world, we are on the right track. We appreciate you staying with us, dear reader, and we hope that you will continue your support into the future. After a short hiatus this summer, we will be back with even more pollution ass kicking and riding our school of computer-less students. I personally, your host, Wyatt, I will not be back. I have college and the great world beyond looming over me and I will be forced to abandon you against my will. But that aside, McCallum Computers is as awesome as ever.

It is TOMORROW we have worked so hard on this drive and finally every thing is coming together. We will accept any type of electronic from computers to boom boxes to printers to cell phones. Once again all computers that are collected will be given back to students at Mccallum who cannot afford there own. We will be outside of McCallum at 5600 Sunshine Drive from 9am to 2pm.

On May 17th from 9am to 2pm we will be holding a community wide electronics recycling drive. Many of the computers that are collected will be refurbished and given back to students at McCallum who cannot afford their own. Grande Communications will be giving all of the students free internet access and Computers For Learning will be refurbishing the computers. All Electronics will be accepted from cell phones to CD players to computers, anything that cannot be refurbished will go to different recyclers including Round2 Technologies. Our recycling drive will be held at McCallum High School and is open for anyone to come donate. The recycling drive will also have educational displays about electronic waste and where computers come from and go to along with showing how toxic a computer can be.

Internet Access

Partnering with Goodwill seems to be working well, and our project seems to be moving along. Our next step is finding an internet provider who would be willing to give free internet access to those we give computers. We are trying to contact many providers, but if anybody knows of anyone in an important position at an internet provider, it would be unbelievably helpful to our cause if you let us go. We have not written in a while, but more is to come soon, now that we are back on track. Enjoy the world, and help us make it better.

High-Tech Trash

While we have continued our quest to save the environment, we have not been the only ones. National Geographic just posted a great article about computer recycling. It outlines the reasons we have been doing what we have been doing, and why you should join the cause. You may not believe us because we are just students, but now we have National Geographic on our side. Recycling and refurbishing computers is crucial at this point to help good old Mother Earth, and we can not do it alone. Contact us, or Goodwill Computer Works to make a difference.
